A year ago Amazon introduced the dash. It is a handheld device about the size of a small TV remote. The unit features a bar code scanner and a microphone allowing you to order household items by scanning the item or simply speaking the name of the item into the unit. This past week they introduced the new version. The Dash Button. It is exactly as its name implies. It is physical button with the name of a particular product printed next to it. When get close to running out of that item, coffee for example, you press the button and it is on order. The button syncs with an app on your smart phone so that you can program the button to order the specific version of the product you use. The app also provides the opportunity to cancel if you change your mind. Some say it is a great idea, others think it is absolutely silly. I fact many originally thought it was an April fools joke by Amazon. What do you think?
