To show off the ability of driverless cars, and to make a great show for the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, Audi had a car drive itself from Palo Alto California to Las Vegas without a driver. Several lucky individuals, including some press, went along for the ride. What was it like? Reporters say the car performed flawlessly, passing slower cars on the highway, avoiding obstacles, etc., but frankly, they said the ride was boring and mundane. The computer driven car performed flawlessly, and is one more step toward taking us all down a driveless ride. Not sure you will like a car that doesn’t need you to drive it? Ask our elderly who have had to give up their freedom and depend on others for a ride everywhere because they no longer have the ability to drive. They would LOVE it!
